Frequently Asked Questions
Here are the answers to some of the more commonly asked questions. Please feel free to get in touch if you have further questions you would like to ask.
01 How much do you charge and how do I pay you?

I charge £78 per hour for GCSE, £70 for year 8 and below, and £85 for A Level. These charges might be more than some, but I am highly qualified with many years of experience where as other tutors might be students who are trying to earn some extra cash before moving on to other careers. Lessons should be paid for preferably by bank transfer either weekly or monthly in advance.

02 What is online tuition like?.

Online tuition is just as good as face to face tuition. I use Skype, Teams or Zoom for voice, and an online whiteboard called Scribblar which the student logs in to. We can both see and write on the same screen, and I can load up questions to work through.

03 How long are the lessons and when do they take place?
The lessons are usually 1 hour long, but can be shorter if required. A shorter lesson will be charged pro-rata. I teach from 9.00am to 8pm Monday to Thursday, and also on Saturday and Sunday morning by arrangement.

04 What happens if I cannot attend a lesson?

You must give me 24 hours notice if you cannot attend a lesson, otherwise you will be charged the full rate for the lesson except in exceptional circumstances to be decided by myself.

05 Do you teach in the school holidays?
Yes, I can teach in the school holidays by arrangement.

06 How are group lesson run?
Group lessons are 55 minutes long and are for a maximum of 5 students. Group lessons are £35 per lesson per student. Prior to each lesson, the student will be given some learning work to go through. During the lesson we will delve deeper into each topic. After each lesson the student will be given some follow up work to consolidate the learning.
